There’s no right or wrong way to journaling. It’s about you and your thoughts. Find a journal that speaks to you. (Amazon has a ton of affordable options.) You could even create your own. Check out some diy journal ideas on Pinterest. Let yourself be creative!
Once you have that part done, it’s time to get to work! Dig deep into yourself. Ask the tough questions. Allow yourself to be open and honest, let it all spill.
Here are some prompts to get you started:
- What are your favorite song lyrics?
- What fear holds you back?
- What makes you feel alive?
- What are your passions?
- What does family mean to me?
- Where do you want to be in five years?
- What do you see as your best quality?
- List your strengths and weaknesses. What do you need to work on?
- What does confidence mean to you?
- Describe your ideal day.
- Describe the challenges of being an extrovert/introvert.
- What do you believe in?
- What lifts your spirits when you’ve had a bad day?
- What is your biggest accomplishment?
- How would you better your community?
- What skill do you want to learn?
- If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
- What would be your ultimate Christmas wish?
- Where are the top 5 places on your travel bucket list and why?
- Talk about your dream job.
Your journal writing could even lead to something bigger. An inspirational book or blog site. A book of poetry. Maybe it’s something more personal. This could be a great tool in finding yourself or centering yourself, helping you become a better version of you. ❤
I began a writing journal this past summer using a Word document. I began it to jump-start ideas (or lack thereof). It’s since become a place for ideas, brainstorming, sometimes ranting, and recollections. It’s served its purpose and more and I plan to continue journaling in 2022.
