Cookie Exchange – Pecan Pralines

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Directions:

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper & set to the side. *I nixed the pan & simply used my counter space.
  2. In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and cream. Cook over medium heat and bring to a boil stirring continuously. *Super important to keep stirring!
  3. Boil for 1 minute and remove from heat.
  4. Gently stir in powdered sugar, followed by pecans. Mix well.
  5. Drop by spoonful on to parchment paper.
  6. Allow to cool at least 30 minutes before serving.

A Quick Story:

We were blessed to host Thanksgiving this year with my father and aunt. It’s been a couple years since we’ve been able to have a get together. (Thanks Covid!) It was also our first time hosting. My husband insisted on taking care of the meal, but I was in charge of the desserts. Of course, I wanted to create something special. I had never attempted to make pralines, nor had I eaten any, but it sounded like a wonderful treat! I love making sweets and this was an easy recipe. And oh my word, they were delicious! I’m now obsessed with pecan pralines and have been anxious to share the recipe with my friends. I hope you’ll enjoy! ❤

  1. I always buy pecan pralines when I am in Georgia (they make the best) but have never tried to make them. They seem simple enough, so, I will give them a go. Thanks for this recipe.

  2. Those cookies look so good, Mar. I love pralines too! Thanks for sharing your recipe. I’m going to try make them with a sugar substitute. This could be a windfall if it works. 🙂 Merry Christmas, my friend, and wishing you a wonderful 2023. ❤

  3. I can’t wait to try these! All the recipes I have for pecan pralines use a candy thermometer and I’m no good with it. I’m so happy to have found a recipe that doesn’t use the cursed thing! Thank you for sharing.
